The system is fucked.

Crown Protocol is a neon survivor roguelite where you play as CROWN, an antivirus combat process sent into a computer system that’s basically gone completely to hell.

You start out with a pretty basic weapon and a lot of room to move. That doesn’t last very long.

Enemies start piling in, tiny Packet Mites fill out the crowds, elites start showing up, the system starts throwing hazards and events at you, and your build slowly turns into an absolute mess of bullets, lightning, fire, gravity wells, explosions and whatever else you managed to stack together.

You can carry multiple weapons at once, upgrade them throughout the run, evolve them into stronger versions and mix in elemental effects to shape your build.

The arenas aren’t just empty rooms either. You’ll run into system nodes, nests, corrupted hardware and other objectives that give you something to do besides running in circles waiting for enemies to die.

Killing enemies and completing objectives also builds Crown Authority. Fill it up and you can trigger Crown Override, temporarily overclocking CROWN and giving you a chance to completely tear through whatever is currently ruining your day.

There’s a full campaign built around different parts of the corrupted system, along with Arcade mode, persistent upgrades, equipment unlocks, achievements, cosmetics and Digicoin progression between runs.

A big part of Crown Protocol is simply watching the game get more ridiculous as a run goes on. The arenas light up, circuitry starts firing beneath you, hazards activate, enemy crowds get thicker and your weapons become increasingly stupid.

That’s kind of the point.
